Indy Film Fest

20 Jul

I hope most of my local readers are familiar with the Indy Film Fest by now. But if not, allow me to enlighten you! This 10 day film festival, held at the IMA, is a perfect way to escape the summer heat and check out some films you might not normally see, or even know existed.

My boyfriend and I attended the opening night festivities and really enjoyed the venue (Toby Theater) and Sundance winning film, Another Earth, a fantasy/science fiction drama directed by Mike Cahill. I HIGHLY encourage everyone to check it out- seriously one of the better films I’ve seen in a long time.  Description as quoted from the program: “on the night of the discovery of a duplicate planet in the solar system, an ambitious young student and an accomplished composer cross paths in a tragic accident.” The acting was stellar and while the plot can be predicted quickly into the movie, you are surprised by the reality in which you discover the relationships and other planet. You can watch the trailers and read more here, http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/fox/anotherearth/.

We also caught the How Odd! Shorts Program- perfect for those with small attention spans! We plan to see Fuck My Life on Thursday and a few others before the event wraps up this weekend. Suggestions?!
