Indy Film Fest

20 Jul

I hope most of my local readers are familiar with the Indy Film Fest by now. But if not, allow me to enlighten you! This 10 day film festival, held at the IMA, is a perfect way to escape the summer heat and check out some films you might not normally see, or even know existed.

My boyfriend and I attended the opening night festivities and really enjoyed the venue (Toby Theater) and Sundance winning film, Another Earth, a fantasy/science fiction drama directed by Mike Cahill. I HIGHLY encourage everyone to check it out- seriously one of the better films I’ve seen in a long time.  Description as quoted from the program: “on the night of the discovery of a duplicate planet in the solar system, an ambitious young student and an accomplished composer cross paths in a tragic accident.” The acting was stellar and while the plot can be predicted quickly into the movie, you are surprised by the reality in which you discover the relationships and other planet. You can watch the trailers and read more here,

We also caught the How Odd! Shorts Program- perfect for those with small attention spans! We plan to see Fuck My Life on Thursday and a few others before the event wraps up this weekend. Suggestions?!

Resturant Radar

5 Jul

While we definitely enjoy hitting up the farmer’s market and making most dinners at home, I’ll always have the urge to check out what’s new with Indy’s dining scene. I’m a huge fan of the local food movement and am always curious to try new places.  Before the end of the year, I’d like to make it, at least once, to each of the the restaurants listed below. If you’ve dined at any of these before, please leave a comment with a few recommendations, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Bon Appetit!

Mountains are calling

Basically how I feel every day!

I saw @lydiology tweet this from Etsy and just had to share. The mountains are ALWAYS calling my name. I’ll get there soon enough!

Locally Grown Gardens

10 Jun

We swung by Locally Grown Gardens a couple weeks ago and I was just fascinated by the set-up and decor. Here are a few pictures from my phone (I plan to head back there when I get a nicer camera). We did find some morel mushrooms, for a great price, but do need to go back when we have more time to explore. Enjoy the slideshow of pictures!

Butler Pride in the Hoosier State

7 Apr

Butler may have lost the championship, but this cartoon from the Indianapolis Star will remain a classic. Only thing missing from this is Blue 2, of course. I will forever be a proud Butler alum- we will be back next year!

Inspiring Photography

12 Aug

As I mentioned in my previous post, photography is a hobby I use to get motivated. However, to be perfectly honest, I have not devoted much time to taking pictures in quite awhile. Despite the fact I am still on the hunt for a new camera, I need to spend more time exploring the great outdoors and experimenting with lighting, shadows, color, etc. All thanks to a post I saw on the Web Design Ledger, and the photography of Hoosier, Angel Canary- my new goal is to get back into the groove of taking pictures. Hope to share some with you all very soon.

Click on the images below to see where I find my photography inspiration.

I’d love to follow more photography blogs, if you have any favorites to share- please leave a comment. Cheers!
